Twilight Makes Big Bucks With Small Satisfaction

 

Twilight the movie finished number one at $69.6 million. While the movie grossed huge numbers, reviews are less than stellar. The largest complaint was the details lost in translation between the novel and the movie. Unfortunately, the movie was left to be rather confusing as the heroine’s, Isabel “Bella” Swan played by Kristen Stewart, interest in her vamp hottie, Edward Cullen played by Robert Pattinson, was never really explained. The whole “creature of the night” angle is obvious as audiences have always understood the attraction to vampire characters, but in the movie Edward is a little gruff. It is hard to appreciate what Bella sees in him at some points. Another complaint for this movie has been not only the missing content from the novel, but the added aspects that seem to come out of nowhere such as the haphazard attacks by the evil vamp trio. As far as the visual effects are concerned, they were hit and miss. The dark filter the movie was shot in and dreary Oregon location certainly give this movie a menacing yet somehow alluring feel. Certain special effects lacked the wow factor, but overall this is a good fantasy flick.
